The community is invited to “Festival of Hispanic Cultures,” an event celebrating the cultures and contributions of Central and South American countries, Tues., Sept. 16, 5 -7 pm at The Landing Market.
This event, the first of 6 “Eats. Education. Engagement” events planned for the 2025-26 academic year, is sponsored by The Landing Market; Latines Unides, a student group at Luther College; and the college’s Center for Intercultural Engagement and Support (CIES). It coincides with Hispanic Heritage month at the college.
The event will feature foods from the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico, planned and prepared by Luther students.
Cost is $10. For students (with ID) attending any college or university and for children 17 and younger, the cost is $5. No reservations are needed.
Other “Eats. Education. Engagement” events coinciding with heritage months at the college will occur in Oct. (LGBTQ+ history); Nov. (Indigenous heritage); Feb (Black history); Mar. (women’s history); and Apr. (Asian Pacific Islander heritage).
The Landing Market, located at 211 College Dr., in Decorah, opened in July 2020 as a food hall and community gathering spot. Today The Landing is home to Justin’s (restaurant), The Buzz (coffee & cocktails), Root 43 (juices, smoothies, bowls), Twisted Gnome (frozen soft serve),and Tandem which supports the disability community as well as Oneota Health Solutions chiropractic care and Nagle Signs.
